Position Summary and Purpose: Supports After Sales engineering of control upgrades for all Cincinnati Inc. product lines to include Lasers. Press Brakes, Shears and Powdered Metal product lines. Research and development of retrofit packages that include PLC/PC controls with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical circuits. Is a primary liaison between the After Sales product manager, Design Engineering and Service Manager.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL:
Design and fabricate electro-mechanical and robotic systems
Develop mechanical and electro-mechanical prototypes
Assist in designing and developing advanced test equipment for sensing systems
Perform design calculations for systems
Write and submit reports
Develop schematics, logic diagrams, and other control diagrams
Develop, test, and trouble-shoot PLC/SCADA systems
Design custom electro-mechanical components
Design and manufacture custom industrial cabling, wiring, and wiring devices
Develop and maintain engineering drawings
Develop, train users, and maintain standardized Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
VALUED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL:
Provide engineering technical support to Service department with any electrical, control, or mechanical issues
Perform and supplement the responsibilities of a Tooling Engineer Technician as needed and assigned
 
Education and Experience: 
REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
Working experience with automation, robotics, metrology, ISO, and/or control software programing 
Detailed experience designing mechanical parts, assemblies, weldments, systems
Familiar with 3D CAD and drafting software-Knowledge of CAD/CAM and CNC equipment
Experience with Compliance standards, NFPA, NEC, & ANSI
Experience with machine safety, risk assessment and redundancy 
 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Characteristics, etc. 
REQUIRED:
Understand mechanical and electromechanical principles and their application
Working knowledge of electronic circuits, sensors, actuators, and signal processing 
Knowledge of computer hardware and software design and applications
Knowledge of automated and motion control systems
Knowledge of test equipment procedures and test methodologies
Ability to communicate technical information clearly, effectively, and concisely
Able to read, interpret, and check compliance of wiring and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams and schematics
Strong computer, visualization, and communication (personal and technical) skills related to field
Analytical and technical reporting and presentation skills; written, verbal, and digitally
Ability to clearly communicate, promote, and obtain agreement to processing, manufacturing, assembly, and testing methods
Willing and able to see an assignment thru in a timely manner, recognizing needs of others, production, and CINCINNATI’s customers
VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
Knowledge of design for reliability and design for manufacturability techniques 
Understanding of EMI, RFI suppression techniques
Working knowledge of UL (Underwriter Labs) 
Skilled in project supervision

Physical demands:  Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work environment: The employee is occasionally exposed to non-air-conditioned temperatures in the manufacturing area, and occasionally moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is  usually moderate, but can be loud at times when in the manufacturing facility.  Occasional Travel (<15%).
